Overview

Developed in collaboration with AccorHotels, InterContinental Hotel Group and TFE Hotel Group, the Master of Business in Global Hotel Leadership is designed for future leaders in the hotel, tourism and leisure industry with a desire to accelerate their career progression.

This course will help participants to develop an advanced level of understanding of hotel operations and the principles behind hotel asset management, service design and delivery systems, operational models and disruptive technologies.

There is also a strong focus on business management and leadership skills to meet the needs of entrepreneurs who want to operate their own business.

The course includes an optional professional internship and is offered at the University's Hotel School.

Course Learning Outcome

This course includes a 600-hour internship. Internships are integral to our degrees, giving you the opportunity to explore your career options, as you gain valuable on-the-job experience and build your professional networks. Internships may be undertaken within Australia or internationally, in any sector of tourism and hospitality.

The course comprises a suite of core units to develop your advanced communications and leadership skills, as well as a choice of electives covering topics as diverse as supply chains, strategic operations, revenue and analytics.

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this course are as follows

Credit for prior learning

Candidates who have completed a bachelor degree in a cognate field will be granted four (4) units of advanced standing from either the core or option units of the schedule.

Course requirements

To be eligible to receive the Master of Business in Global Hotel Leadership students must complete the equivalent of 16 units (192 credit points), comprising:

  • 15 core units (180 credit points); and
  • 1 option unit (12 credit points).

Exit Awards

Students may be eligible to exit with the Graduate Diploma of Business in Global Hotel Leadership after completing the equivalent of 8 units (96 credit points), comprising of 8 units as specified in the Graduate Diploma of Business in Global Hotel Leadership.

Students may be eligible to exit with the Graduate Certificate of Business in Global Hotel Leadership after completing the equivalent of 4 units (48 credit points), comprising of 4 units as specified in the Graduate Certificate of Business in Global Hotel Leadership.

Enrolment information The purpose of work integrated learning is to apply knowledge and skills from the current degree to the work placement. As such, advanced standing for prior work experience will not be considered for this unit. Please note that Industry Internship A is an advanced unit and should only be attempted towards the end of your course.
Enrolment restrictions All internship positions will need to be approved by the Unit Assessor. A Notice of Placement form is required PRIOR to commencing the internship. Students enrolling in both Industry Internship A and Industry Internship B will need to submit a request for further Unit Assessor approval.
