Unit description

Examines the socio-cultural, economic and global drivers of operational effectiveness across contemporary hotel structures. An exploration of tourist, guest and customer requirements will enable students to adapt to the complex dynamics of globalisation and diversity through advanced managerial skills and knowledge applicable to hotels’ operational departments.

This unit has 6 modules:

1.   Introduction to hotels in the modern economy: the big picture
2.   Current issues for hotel operations
3.   Current issues for the hotel guest: global and micro perspectives
4.   Planning operations in the modern hotel
5.   Managing and controlling operations in the modern hotel
6.   The future of hotel management
