Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Project Management is designed for professionals across all sectors who wish to develop their skills in project management. Students develop an understanding of the principles behind project management, and of time, change, risk and procurement issues, exploring common obstacles and developing a problem-solving attitude that can be applied to their future management endeavours.

This course is also a pathway to further postgraduate study. Graduates receive up to four units of credit towards the Master of Project Management.

Demonstrate well-developed judgement, regarding ethical practices, within a Project Management context.

GA4: Knowledge of a discipline

Demonstrate well-developed theoretical and technical knowledge in the field of Project Management and apply this to real-world situation.

GA5: Lifelong learning

Demonstrate autonomous, self-managed learning through reflective practice, and well developed skills to locate, evaluate, manage and apply information in the field of project management.

GA6: Communication and social skills

Demonstrate well developed communication and collaboration skills, with individuals and teams to achieve project outcomes.

GA7: Cultural competence

Demonstrate cultural competence in local, Australia-wide and global settings, specifically as they apply to the practice of project management.

Career Outcomes

This course is endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM). Students who have completed an AIPM-endorsed course are eligible to apply for a certificate as a Certified Practising Project Practitioner (CPPP) under AIPM's RegPM program.

Course requirements

To be eligible to receive the Graduate Certificate in Project Management students must complete the equivalent of 4 units (48 credit points), comprising:

  • 1 core unit (12 credit points): and
  • 3 equivalent elective units (36 credit points).

A candidate in the Graduate Certificate of Project Management who has completed the requirements for the Graduate Certificate of Project Management may elect to articulate to a Graduate Diploma of Project Management or Master of Project Management.
 

Entry requirements

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this course are as follows

  • 3 equivalent elective units (36 credit points).

A candidate in the Graduate Certificate of Project Management who has completed the requirements for the Graduate Certificate of Project Management may elect to articulate to a Graduate Diploma of Project Management or Master of Project Management.
