Overview

The Graduate Certificate in International Tourism and Hotel Management covers four units of the Master of International Tourism and Hotel Management, from topics including but not limited to employee relations, event planning and management, financial analysis, gaming operations, destination marketing, and tourism and hospitality management. There is also an optional workplace internship.

The Graduate Certificate in International Tourism and Hotel Management is a pathway award. Students who complete the Graduate Diploma are awarded four units of advanced standing towards the Master of International Tourism and Hotel Management.

Students may choose to undertake a 300-hour internship (equivalent to two units) in either a paid or volunteer role. This practical experience, combined with theoretical understanding, enhances the learning experience for students who have a professional and personal interest in this high growth area.

Students are responsible for securing their internship placement and are given extensive assistance in interview and application procedures, access to an extensive database of potential employers and roles and ongoing support from the dedicated work integrated learning team.

Entry requirements

(a) Applicants for admission to candidature in the Graduate Certificate in International Tourism and Hotel Management may be selected where the applicant can demonstrate academic or professional standing considered by the School Board to be equivalent to the requirements of Rule 2 Section 3 of the University's Rules Relating to Awards.
 

 

 

 



 

Credit for prior learning

Candidates for the Graduate Certificate of Tourism and Hotel Management may be granted advanced standing on the basis of relevant work experience or professional qualifications obtained through formal, non-formal or informal learning.

Course requirements

To be eligible for the award of Graduate Certificate in International Tourism and Hotel Management a candidate shall successfully complete not less than four (4) units comprising:

(i) Four (4) units from Part A (excluding MNG93003 and BUS00913); or

(ii) Two (2) units from Part A (excluding MNG93003 and BUS00913) and two (2) units from Part B (excluding MNG03237) of the Schedule of Units attached to these Rules.
