Overview
The Associate Degree of Science is a two-year (full-time or part-time equivalent) course that equips students with knowledge and skills in areas including environmental, health and physical sciences such as engineering. The course includes a pathway to Southern Cross University’s Bachelor degrees in science, environmental science, marine science and management, forestry science and management, civil engineering, and clinical sciences.
This course is offered through SCU College.

The course includes core studies in science that prepare students for more advanced study through a range of science discipline units. The Associate degree will assist students’ progression to their preferred area of study, should they decide to articulate into Southern Cross University’s Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Environmental Science, Bachelor of Marine Science and Management, Bachelor of Forest Science and Management, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering, or Bachelor of Clinical Sciences.

Course requirements

To be eligible for the award of Associate Degree of Science a candidate shall successfully complete the equivalent of sixteen (16) units (192 credit points) comprising:
- all eight (8) units listed in Part A; and
- any eight (8) elective units chosen from Part B
- A candidate who while enrolled in the Associate Degree of Science has completed the equivalent of eight (8) units (or 96 credit points) from Part A and/or Part B may elect to be awarded a Diploma of Science following withdrawal from candidature for the Associate Degree.
