Overview
The Associate Degree of Arts is a two-year course (full-time or part-time equivalent) entry-level course that prepares students for continuing study and/or participation in a range of areas relevant to the humanities, culture, society and creative arts. It equips students with skills and knowledge that enable eligible graduates to progress onto a Southern Cross University Bachelor of Arts degree, to enhance their career opportunities.
Students have the option of receiving the equivalent of 4 units of credit (advanced standing) for a completed Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation, then studying 12 units in the Associate Degree of Arts to complete the award. Alternatively, students who enter the Associate degree without a Certificate IV qualification will study 16 units at SCU College to complete the award.
Students who progress to the University’s Bachelor of Arts have the opportunity to select areas of study from a range of disciplines including art and design, communication and cultural studies, contemporary music, governance and society, history, media studies, psychology, and writing, with the freedom to combine these majors with others offered by the University, such as sustainability or Indigenous studies.
This course if offered through SCU College.
All SCU College students are offered extra support through College Connect while undertaking this Associate degree.
