Unit aim

Students are required to spend 200 hours in a welfare organisational setting under the supervision of an experienced field educator who assists the student to integrate theory with practice by creating a suitable learning environment.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1 develop and maintain professional and ethical relationships with clients, colleagues and supervisors
2 apply research theory and skills to practice, assessing need and/or risk, and mapping the network of services within the social and community services sector appropriate to organisation
3 participate in team processes and understand decision making frameworks and evaluation processes in the human services context
4 demonstrate an understanding of practice guidelines and ethics, and personal reflection in the human services context.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
