WEL92005 Social Work Field Placement IIa
Unit aim
Engages students in 150 hours of supervised social work practice, in the same human service organisation in which they completed WEL92005, developing professional skills, knowledge and values in line with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) practice standards for social work. Students transfer learning gained from other units in their course to practice in a real organisation. An emphasis is placed on the use of research to inform social work practice and policy change. It is expected that students will have achieved competence as a beginning level social worker by the end of this unit.

- Presenting to colleagues and other professionals
- Evaluate own practice by gaining feedback from clients and community members
- Using research to inform social work practice and policy change
- Leadership roles within human service organisations and the health and community service sector
- Developing a professional practice framework that draws on a wide range of social work knowledge
Learning outcomes
