Unit aim
Part 2 of 2 units comprising the second social work field placement. Engages students in 600 hours (across WEL92005 and WEL92006) of supervised social work practice, in a different human service organisation to which they completed the first social work field placement (WEL91006-7). Develops professional skills, knowledge and values in line with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) practice standards for social work. Transfers learning gained from other units in the course to practice in a real organisation. Emphasis is placed on the use of research to inform social work practice and policy change. (WEL92006 is completed in the same human service organisation in which the student completed WEL92005).

- Forming, maintaining and ending professional relationships with clients, colleagues and others
- Communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders
- Presenting to colleagues and other professionals
- Evaluate own practice by gaining feedback from clients and community members
- Using research to inform social work practice and policy change
- Leadership roles within human service organisations and the health and community service sector
- Developing a professional practice framework that draws on a wide range of social work knowledge
Learning outcomes
