Unit aim

Part 2 of 2 units comprising the first social work field placement. Engages students in 400 hours (across WEL91006 and WEL91007) of supervised social work practice developing professional skills, knowledge and values in line with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) practice standards for social work. Transfers learning gained from other units to practice in a real organisation. (WEL91007 is completed in the same human service organisation in which the student completed WEL91006).

  2. Communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders
  3. Analysing team work and other group dynamics within the workplace
  4. Engaging in critical self reflection
  5. Critically reflecting on development of own communication skills
  6. Making effective use of professional supervision
  7. Identifying gaps in learning and ongoing learning needs
