Unit Summary
Unit aim
Focuses on introducing students to skills and concepts that will build a strong foundation in mathematics and develop confidence for undergraduate study. It will provide opportunities to apply and connect these skills by solving real world problems related to daily life and future study.
Unit content
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to: | |
---|---|
1 | Analyse situations and apply suitable mathematical skills in real-world problem solving |
2 | Show understanding and proficiency in the use of mathematical skills |
3 | Communicate in a structured and logical sequence the steps to a solution |
4 | State limitations, acknowledge assumptions made and comment on the practicality of the solution used |
