Unit aim
Part 2 of two units comprising the final social work placement. Engages students in 500 hours (across Social Work Placement IIa and IIb) of supervised social work practice in a human service organisation. Develops professional skills, knowledge and values based on the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) practice standards for social work. Transfers learning gained from other units in the course to practice in a real organisation.
Unit content
1. Forming, maintaining and ending professional relationships with clients, colleagues and others.
2. Communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders.
3. Presenting to colleagues and other professionals.
4. Evaluating own practice by gaining feedback from clients and community members.
5. Using research to inform social work practice and policy change.
6. Leadership roles within human service organisations and the health and community service sector.
7. Developing a professional practice framework that draws on a wide range of social work knowledge.
Learning outcomes
