Unit aim
Assists students to integrate knowledge, skills and attitudes and reach entry level competency in providing assessment, planning intervention, managing speech pathology services and documenting outcomes for adults with speech, language, voice, fluency or swallowing disorders. Students consolidate required knowledge, skills and attitudes during a supervised external clinic placement.
Unit content
Students participate in 30 days of supervised external clinic placements (e.g. in hospital and community settings) where students are expected to demonstrate entry level competency in assessing and/or providing intervention for adult clients with communication and/or swallowing disorders according to Competency- based Occupational Standards (CBOS Revised 2011 - Speech Pathology Australia). There is ongoing feedback on students' clinical performance during the placement.
Learning outcomes
