Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

GA1: Intellectual rigour, GA2: Creativity, GA3: Ethical practice, GA4: Knowledge of a discipline, GA5: Lifelong learning, GA6: Communication and social skills, GA7: Cultural competence

1 illustrate the cortical divisions of the central nervous system and areas of the brain linked with dimensions of speech, language and swallowing functions
2 explain how the cerebellum and brainstem influence communication
3 identify the cranial nerves involved in hearing, speech and swallowing
4 describe the neuro-sensory organisation of speech and hearing and the neuro-motor control of speech
5 provide examples of general speech, language, hearing and swallowing symptoms associated with particular central nervous system lesions and neuropathology
6 discuss the relationships across Neuroscience, Neuropsychology and Speech Pathology.
