STAT2001 - Introduction to Evidence for Health Science Practitioners AND SPCH2005 - Child Language and Literacy: Theory and Practice AND have completed or be currently enrolled in SPCH2007 - Neurogenic Speech Disorders in Adults and Children OR SPCH2008 - Language in Adults: Theory and Practice
Unit aim
Prepares students to identify, appraise and apply research evidence to speech pathology assessment and intervention practices within the broader context of evidence-based practice. The unit will extend knowledge and clinical reasoning as applicable to a variety of range of practice areas within speech pathology.
Unit content
The unit will cover content related to:
- Evidence-based practice as applicable to speech pathology practice.
- Identifying, appraising and synthesising research evidence to inform speech pathology practice.
- Validity, reliability, and fidelity of assessment and intervention practices within speech pathology.
- Applying research to speech pathology practice.
