Unit aim

Consolidates students' understanding of the concepts and application of advanced sport and exercise psychology. Utilising a variety of learning opportunities and experiences ranging from formal teaching to more activity-based and experiential learning, students will apply knowledge of behavioural techniques that can be applied to enhance sport and exercise interaction and performance. Application of the techniques to both individual and group situations is considered via emphasis on real-life projects and applications.

2 interpret the influences that selected psychological factors have on lifelong participation in sport and exercise and health and fitness related activities and how participation in these arenas influences psychological health
3 analyse the skills and knowledge related to the application of applied psychology and sport and exercise psychology research into sport and exercise and fitness and health related skill situations
4 formulate the skills and knowledge for the purposes of client education and assessment including professional report writing, referral and communication in multidisciplinary settings
5 apply clinical reasoning to the application of psychological intervention in sport and exercise settings
