Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 Explain the relationship between the foot, footwear, an existing orthotic or prosthetic appliance and its fitting and functional principles and limitations
2 Apply those principles in selecting, fitting, and if necessary, modifying prefabricated medical grade footwear for clients with medical foot/footwear issues to improve their quality of life
3 Discuss the different materials used in prefabricated footwear, their properties and how to work with them
4 Describe and apply design and construction principles of footwear, sports footwear, safety / protective footwear and medical grade footwear for optimal performance
5 Explain the special design and functional features of prefabricated medical footwear
6 Describe a Pedorthic laboratory, its equipment, materials and Work Health and Safety (WHS) issues

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
