Unit aim

Introduces the dimensions of gait and mobility and the impact of gait and mobility disorders. The unit also provides a platform for students to begin to learn about the Podiatry and Pedorthics professions, their associated roles and responsibilities and the treatment modalities utilised within each discipline.

Topic 1: History and evolution of the Podiatry and Pedorthic professions 
Topic 2: Development and maintenance of mobility across the lifespan 
Topic 3: Disorders of gait and mobility 
Topic 4: Impact of mobility disorders within the ICF framework 
Topic 5: Roles of the Podiatrist and Pedorthist, case study analysis and development 
Topic 6: Basic skills of Podiatrists and Pedorthists (including observation and recording)
