Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate skills in taking a full patient case history at an intermediate student practitioner level in an evidence-based context

perform a full patient physical examination in an evidence-based context at the level of an intermediate student practitioner level

implement and explain the diagnostic process at the level of an intermediate student practitioner level

develop and explain a management plan, including for chronic pain and neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation and commence a safe, rational and evidence-based series of osteopathic treatments

demonstrate professional behaviour and attitudes, including efficient time management and recording skills

critically reflect on the patient’s experience of osteopathic practice

work collaboratively within a team on a research project: critically analysing relevant literature and aligning methodology to research questions
