Unit aim

Provides students with a deepening understanding of the diagnostic theory and methods in primary care medicine, with particular concentration on the modules of immunology, cardiology, respiratory and paediatrics. This unit also aims to integrate the osteopathic principles and practices into knowledge of public health and patient problems in these systems.

Topic 6: Case study development, including:

  • Case history interview Integration of basic and clinical sciences
  • Nutritional and lifestyle considerations
  • Diagnostic work up

4 construct rational management of patient cases based on an integrated diagnostic process
5 defend working diagnoses and treatment plans using rational clinical reasoning and problem solving skills
6 examine the principles of public and social health including clinical epidemiology,
7 appraise the place of osteopathic medicine within these spheres.
