Unit aim
Introduces students to the concepts underlying health issues that lead to acute health breakdown requiring nursing care in acute care settings. Students will demonstrate knowledge of nursing care in acute health care settings.

Nursing care, pharmacotherapeutics, physiology and technology and application of nursing knowledge in
- Mental health deterioration in the acute care setting
- Perioperative care
- Acute pain management
- Advanced wound management
- Acute coronary syndrome and acute cardiac conditions
- Respiratory Trauma and ventilation
- Acute renal and urinary conditions
- Acute gastrointestinal conditions
- Acute nervous system, ear, nose and throat, endocrine and metabolic states
- Acute musculoskeletal injury
- Reproductive emergencies
