Builds upon knowledge and skills relevant to a wide range of primary care cases, and demonstrate competence in laboratory sessions prior to professional experience placement. First in a series of four units.

1 Describe and discuss the principles of health education, health promotion, and primary health care
2 Demonstrate principles and strategies to conduct an integrated and comprehensive assessment of the client at home and in the community.
3 Design a health intervention program that uses evidence-based practices to guide health promotion to vulnerable populations
4 Demonstrate problem solving, hazard and risk assessment and decision making skills that respond to clinical challenges in a community environment
5 Demonstrate interpersonal skills, skills in multidisciplinary team work and competence in cultural safety.
6 Compile practice exemplars and professional portfolio record according to ANMC Competency Standards
