Unit aim

Builds on the foundational level skills and knowledge established in Creative Music Practice I in relation to collaborative music-making practices, songwriting, composition, arrangement and music performance and presentation. Students will rehearse and perform with small and large ensembles and participate in workshops and lectures. Students will participate in a project ensemble geared towards their own creative and/or performance goals.

Unit content

  • Ensemble rehearsals and performance practice in two ensembles; one repertoire focused and the other a collaborative creative project.
  • Introduction to collaborative music-making processes
  • Foundational songwriting/composition and arrangement techniques
  • Introduction to lyric writing
  • WHS issues in relation to rehearsal, live performance and/or recording
  • Critiquing, self-reflection, evaluation, and improvement strategies
