Unit aim

Provides technical instruction in introductory practical aspects of contemporary music performance on a range of instruments (guitar, bass, drumkit or keyboards) and vocals. In addition to weekly instrument specific group lessons, students will engage in a cooperative learning approach, participating in ensembles geared towards students' own creative and/or performance goals.

  • Technique and technical routines of an instrument (guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, or drums) or in singing
  • Performance and/or composition and production practice in contemporary styles
  • Ensemble skills
  • OHS issues in relation to rehearsal, live performance and/or recording
  • Critiquing, self reflection, evaluation, and improvement strategies
