Unit aim

This unit aims to develop an understanding of the building blocks of effective stakeholder management.  An understanding of stakeholder management is imperative for developing effective relationships with suppliers, shareholders clients and other stakeholders.

Topic 1: Stakeholder theory: an introduction.
Topic 2: Organisational theory: an introduction.
Topic 3: Organisational theory: the impact of structure and design.
Topic 4: Organisational behaviour: theoretical frameworks.
Topic 5. Communication in organisations: internal and external stakeholders.
Topic 6: Motivation, commitment and managing stakeholders.
Topic 7: Managing conflict.
Topic 8: Teamwork and organisations.
Topic 9: Contemporary issues in organisational theory, structure and design.
Topic 10: Contemporary issues in organisational behaviour: implications for stakeholders.

1 Identify and discuss current theory regarding stakeholder management including organisational theory, design and behaviour and how these can be applied in the workplace
2 Discuss individual methods and theories of communication, motivation and commitment and the effect on both internal and external stakeholders
3 Discuss conflict management at both the individual and group level, in particular with regard to internal and external stakeholders
4 Identify and discuss theories and methods of teamwork and organisational design at a group and organisational level
5 Outline current issues relating to organisational theory, organisational behaviour and organisational development with regard to internal and external stakeholders.
