Unit aim
Develops students' knowledge and skills to provide care for women and/or babies who require medical or surgical interventions during childbearing. Professional Experience is relevant to caring for women or babies who have complex problems. Students must demonstrate satisfactory progress towards attainment of mandatory practice requirements.
Unit content
- Medication and IV fluid administration (adult and neonatal)
- Pain management and anaesthetics
- Complex assessments and medical interventions
- Women who may require surgical intervention
- Maternity emergencies

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
