Unit aim

Introduces students to legislative provisions contained in the Conveyancers Licensing Act 2003 (NSW) and in particular Schedule 3 of the Conveyancers Licensing Regulation 2015 (NSW). Addresses professional ethics and behaviour in conveyancing practice. Includes examination of selected matters pertaining to practice such as employment.

1 demonstrate a working knowledge of the regulatory framework which applies to licensed conveyancers in NSW
2 demonstrate knowledge of the current status and the role of the conveyancing profession in NSW, including the history of the profession and its relationship with the legal profession
3 define conveyancing work and correctly identify the ambit of legal work which the licensed conveyancer can properly undertake in NSW
4 accurately identify the specific legislative requirements pertaining to the licensing of conveyancers in NSW
5 demonstrate knowledge of the rules of conduct which apply to licensed conveyancers in NSW and understand the importance and significance of the licensed conveyancer as a fiduciary
6 identify the legislative provisions relating to the discipline of licensed conveyancers in NSW
7 demonstrate knowledge of the important business and practice skills required to be utilised by the effective licensed conveyancer in contemporary commercial legal and/or conveyancing practice.
