Unit aim

Requires students to undertake the second part of the development, testing and implementation of a team-based computing project using an agile methodology for an industry client. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate and apply skills learned in their previous core units and their major area of study.
 

Unit content

This is an Australian Computer Society (ACS) compliant capstone unit for the Bachelor of Information Technology course. There are no new theory topics introduced for this unit. Students are expected to demonstrate the skills learned throughout their degree and undertake the design, development and implementation of an information technology project using core IT skills and skills specific to their major area of study. The topics of most relevance to achieving the goals of this unit are as follows:

  1. Introduction to the unit
  2. Student-defined topics
  3. Project Closure
  4. Compatibility and usability testing 
  5. Presentation skills

 

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1 apply an agile methodology and project management techniques to the design, development, and testing of a computer system, computer application or technology solution
2 effectively communicate with team members and other stakeholders during all stages of system development using verbal, writing, collaboration software and formal presentations
3 integrate multiple information technologies to achieve a working information system
4 work as a team to present final technology solution to stakeholders and to develop and document user manuals and user training programs

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
