Unit aim
Develops time management and academic skills relevant to the successful completion of assignments and projects in Indigenous Knowledge (IK). Referencing, citation and writing skills will be developed through learning-based modules. Issues of academic conduct and plagiarism will be discussed.
Unit content
Topic 1: Digital literacy and communicating at University
Topic 2: Time management, learning theories, peers and collaboration
Topic 3: Academic culture, ethics, rigor and integrity
Topic 4: Reading, note taking, critical thinking and reflection
Topic 5: The role of evidence, paraphrasing, quoting, in-text citation and referencing
Topic 6: Academic skills, structuring sentences and paragraphs, writing annotated bibliographies, essay planning and writing
Topic 7: Reflecting on indigenous and non-indigenous scholarship
Learning outcomes
