Unit aim
Examines the physiological responses of the body to various exercise stresses and the adaptations which occur within the body as a result of repeated exposure to these stresses.

- Circulatory responses to exercise
- Respiratory responses to exercise
- Bioenergetics and exercise metabolism
- Cardio-respiratory fitness
- Anaerobic power
- Muscular strength and flexibility
- Body composition
- Environmental physiology
- Fatigue
Laboratory content:
- Pre-exercise screening and ergometry
- Heart rate and blood pressure
- Lung function assessment
- Energy expenditure
- Submaximal exercise testing
- Blood sampling and assessment
- Anthropometric assessment
- Body temperature and sweating

3 | demonstrate a level of competency in using various exercise testing apparatus and methods in assessment of physical fitness and defining physiological responses and adaptations that occur as a result of exercise and training; |
4 | be able to report and interpret physiological data and address common myths usually associated with exercise performance; |
5 | demonstrate a level of theoretical knowledge necessary for involvement in exercise prescription, training and conditioning. |
