Unit aim
Provides students with the opportunity to engage in supervised research in a specific area, thereby gaining experience of the professional role of a researcher in allied health. The unit requires students to develop a research question, and write a proposal, considering the research design, methods and ethics associated with the project. This unit is the second in the embedded Allied Health Honours stream.
Unit content
- Formulate a research question that will be explored in their Honours Research Project, and engage in critical discussion and feedback of colleagues’ research questions;
- Appraise and critically review the literature relevant to their identified research question;
- Identify and explain the ethical issues relevant to their identified research questions, and engage in discussion of ethics associated with colleagues’ research questions;
- Design and develop a research proposal for their research question, providing justification and support for the plan.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit.
