Unit content

Topic 1: Osteopathic diagnosis – spinal biomechanical findings – integration of clinical findings
Topic 2: Osteopathic diagnosis – neuromusculoskeletal model
Topic 3: Osteopathic technique – high velocity technique – introductory techniques for the spine, pelvis and lower limbs
Topic 4: Introduction to critical appraisal and clinical reasoning

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

2 develop and reflect upon safe and contextually relevant patient handling and interactive skills
3 analyse and interpret relevant information to support clinical reasoning for advanced osteopathic diagnosis (integrative neuromusculoskeletal)
4 provide the reasoning underpinning the high velocity manipulative techniques in selected regions of the musculoskeletal system and demonstrate their use.
