HLT10481 - Osteopathic Studies I AND BIO01302 - Human Anatomy AND BIO71002 - Human Physiology I OR BIO00307 - Human Physiology AND have completed or be currently enrolled in BIO71003 - Human Physiology II
Advances the students’ understanding of osteopathic philosophy in diagnosis and treatment, and introduces the concept of reflective practice and current evidence of the mechanisms of pain production. Building on the skills and understanding gained in Osteopathic I, students will develop critical reflection and evidence-based musculoskeletal diagnosis and management of different regions of the body.
- Introduction to general musculoskeletal examination including gait
- Spinal inter-segmental examination
- Bio-psycho-social mechanisms of pain production
- Chronic pain syndromes including central sensitization
- Evidence-based practice
- Principles and practice of exercise therapy
- Reflective practice
- Muscle energy technique - evidence and clinical application
- Diagnosis and treatment protocol of shoulder and upper limb
