Unit aim

This discipline unit provides broad and critical foundational understandings and skills relating to the study of personal development, health and physical education. Details the nature and role of PDHPE as a discipline for supporting the development of health and wellbeing.

Unit content

Module 1: Physical Education

movement studies including competence in fundamental movement skills through areas such as dance, gymnastics, games and sports and a range of physical activities

Module 2: Health Education

health studies including history of health education, understanding children’s health, defining health and wellbeing, settings based approaches to health promotion, key frameworks informing approaches to health education, healthy eating, sexual health, safety, drug education, child protection education, interpersonal relationships and healthy choices
