Unit description

Develops the ability to perform rainfall-runoff modelling using the principles and procedures described in Australian Rainfall and Runoff, Australia's handbook for hydrologic design. Students will learn to use industry-standard software to calculate flood hydrographs and predict flood peaks under a range of different hydrologic conditions.

1 describe the structure, inputs and outputs, and features of different rainfall-runoff modelling approaches
2 identify, locate and prepare all necessary input data and other information needed to construct a rainfall-runoff model for different catchments
3 produce a written technical report based on proficient application of rainfall-runoff modelling to a real-world hydrologic design problem using industry-standard software.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
