Unit aim
Introduces students to concrete technology, including key parameters that affect the strength and durability of concrete. Demonstrates how reinforcing steel is used to design strong, versatile and cost effective concrete structures using the limit states design concept. Introduces students to the design of beams, slabs and columns, in addition to specific aspects of detailing reinforced concrete structures in accordance with the Australian Standard.
