Unit aim

Addresses the important role of assessment in improving student learning outcomes. Students critically examine political, social, cultural and pedagogical issues impacting on student assessment practices at state, national and international levels. The unit enables teachers to utilise assessment data from their own students, and broader cohorts, to improve student learning outcomes.

  • Assessment and school improvement
  • State, national and international assessment and reporting initiatives(e.g. PISA, NAPLAN)
  • Reading an interpreting assessment data
  • Critiquing assessment processes and data collection and analysis to improve student learning outcomes
