Unit aim
Addresses the important role of assessment in improving student learning outcomes. Students critically examine political, social, cultural and pedagogical issues impacting on student assessment practices at state, national and international levels. The unit enables teachers to utilise assessment data from their own students, and broader cohorts, to improve student learning outcomes.

- The political, social and cultural influences on assessment practices
- Assessment and school improvement
- State, national and international assessment and reporting initiatives(e.g. PISA, NAPLAN)
- Reading an interpreting assessment data
- Critiquing assessment processes and data collection and analysis to improve student learning outcomes
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit.
