Unit aim

Provides support for students seeking to develop a professional portfolio that provides tangible evidence of a high level of professional learning achieved against established standards of attainment. Students will demonstrate progress against learning goals and implement appropriate strategies for collecting, selecting, documenting and evaluating evidence of professional learning.

Unit content

This content is covered at a more advanced and in-depth level, extending learning from Developing a Professional Portfolio: Part A.

  1. The nature of lifelong learning, professional development and reflective practice
  2. The role of standards in informing professional practice and ongoing professional learning
  3. Professional portfolios: their function, forms and features
  4. Collecting rigorous data and evidence for the portfolio
  5. Structuring a portfolio
  6. Self- and peer-critique, setting learning goals and ongoing development of the portfolio
