Introduces a theory-based understanding of literacy and numeracy in education; and enables advanced knowledge in these fields of knowledge to be applied to professional areas.

- Introduction to teaching for literacy and numeracy
- Literacy demands: Reading and viewing
- Literacy demands: Writing
- Literacy demands: Speaking and listening
- Supporting literacy learning with a range of strategies and resources
- The role of mathematics and numeracy in education
- Numeracy demands: Number and algebra. Supporting students for their numeracy needs
- Numeracy demands: Measurement and geometry; statistics and probability; Supporting students with diverse literacy needs
- Literacy and numeracy: Planning for teaching, programming and reporting, interpreting data
- Literacy and numeracy: Developing specific strategies to cater for students requiring additional support.
