Unit aim

Introduces aspects of, and influences on, curriculum development, including historical, interpretational, implementational, social and political. Familiarises students with principles and techniques for undertaking situational analyses of school-community, school and individual classroom features that affect the success of teaching/learning programs. Introduces students to methods of short-term and long-term programming and evaluation.

1 demonstrate an understanding of the theories and practices that inform the development, delivery, assessment and review of curriculum programs in schools and other places of learning
2 apply the learning design process so as to: identify and organise the essential elements required for the development of a curriculum plan for a learning cohort align curriculum outcomes to pedagogy and assessment
3 construct a long-term curriculum plan for key learning areas that aligns pedagogy and assessment with the curriculum intent and fulfils school and systemic accountability measures
4 culminate previously studied units by designing meaningful and engaging learning experiences that are inclusive of individual learning needs whilst maintaining a high level of intellectual quality.
