EDU00751 - Critical Literature Review (2017)

Provides students with the opportunity to develop organisational research skills and investigate critically the literature relating to an agreed area with a view to identifying research possibilities. Students are assisted to develop skills in academic writing, setting up Styles in Word, establishing a bibliographic database, accessing information sources, managing a literature review and structuring an argument through a literature review. An essential requirement of this unit will be a critical review of the literature in an agreed area leading to the identification of research possibilities.

• Foundational research skills
• The nature and purpose of a critical literature review
• Researching a topic - accessing information sources, literature search strategies, managing the literature review process etc.
• Writing a literature review, including structuring an argument through a literature review.
