Unit aim

Provides participants with the opportunity to consider the current context of vocational education and training. Covers socio-political, policy and economic issues which impact upon the provision of vocational education and training in Australia.

1 investigate how a familiar vocational education and training (VET) workplace embodies the national training context in Australia
2 identify the issues currently affecting the VET sector which directly impact on the student's VET workplace
3 develop a profile of the VET teacher/practitioner and consider how it applies to the student's own role in the sector
4 demonstrate an awareness of the ongoing nature of VET developments, together with a strategy for maintaining a current knowledge base.
