Unit aim

Focuses on management and communication processes, as they apply to both design and technological processes in commercial and industrial settings. Skills in the visualisation of design solutions will be developed through the use of graphs, charts, sketches and technical drawing to communicate the development of design projects.

  5. Visualising solutions:
    • Using graphs and charts
    • Sketches and drawing
    • Technical drawings
    • Purpose and use of prototypes and modelling
  6. Graphics skills and techniques:
    • Awareness of diversity of available commercial and open source software packages
    • Hand and computer-based skills and techniques
    • Application to support design projects
  7. CAD software skills and CAM techniques:
    • Knowledge of diverse ICT technologies for design, drafting and manufacture.
    • Skills and techniques in the design and development of design solutions
