Module 1 - Research with and for children and young people: Theoretical perspectives and contemporary practices History, traditions and politics of research related to children and young people The ethics of researching with, and for, children and young people Researcher roles and participatory research practices Children and young people as researchers.
Module 2 - Qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research: Foundations of practice Defining and understanding epistemology, theory, methodology and methods Exploring the diversity of research methodologies (particular focus on case study, ethnography, action research, grounded theory) Data collection and analysis techniques specific to research with children and young people.
Module 3 - Developing a research proposal Framing a research question The role of the literature search and review Choosing who will be involved Issues of access to sites Data collection Data analysis.
