UG Coursework Unit
Level of learning
have successfully passed CSC00240 - Data Communications and Networks
Provides students an in-depth understanding of Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies including links and routing. Students will gain knowledge and skills by analysing major routing and link protocols, and by prototyping and configuring high performance and high redundancy network routing in an industry-standard simulation environment. Students will also learn to troubleshoot typical routing issues.
Contemporary WAN technologies
WAN Link Protocols
Internet Routing Infrastructure
Routing Design for SME networks
Troubleshoot network routing
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
|On completion of this unit, students should be able to:||GA1||GA2||GA3||GA4||GA5||GA6||GA7|
|1||compare and contrast major WAN technologies|
|2||analyse and evaluate major link and routing protocols such as PPP, RIP and OSPF|
|3||design, prototype small-to-medium routed networks and configure routing protocols in a simulation environment|
|4||competently apply the high performance and high redundancy objective in routing design for SME networks|
|5||develop plans to troubleshoot common issues in network routing.|
