Introduces students to developing a disciplinary-specific research project, including writing literature reviews and communicating the structure and progress of a research project..

Unit content

Provides techniques and approaches relevant to a disciplinary-specific Honours research project.

Students develop verbal and written skills in communicating the development of a research project.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1 Critically evaluate ethical, social and cultural implications of research in artistic/academic fields
2 Critically review, analyse, and synthesise knowledge in a manner appropriate for a specific discipline.
3 Synthesise knowledge of disciplinary approaches and methodology, and ethical, social and cultural questions into a coherent argument.
4 Articulate the foundations of Honours research project verbally and in writing.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
