Unit description

Provides students with knowledge in active reading and writing practices and prepares them for a writing life. Develops practical skills for students without writing experience, and a solid grounding in fundamentals for writers with publications. Students will receive critical feedback integral to their writing practice and engage in reflection on their own work using analytical and interpretation skills.

  1. What does it mean to call oneself a writer
  2. Fundamentals of writing (summary)
  3. Characterisation (character intentions, historical context, writing authentic characters)
  4. Affect theory in creative writing
  5. The editorial process
  6. Placing the work in a broader context and critical review information
