Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

describe the key issues facing young people, and the professionals working with them, in contemporary Australian society

demonstrate evidence-informed understanding of how these key issues affect young people, and the professionals working with them

demonstrate evidence-informed understanding of how the array of youth work service delivery options are used differently to meet young people’s specific needs

critically evaluate key issues facing young people and youth workers with respect to Australian social policy

critically examine the relevance of current youth work practice concerning the key issues facing young people in Australian society

design an approach to youth work that is theoretically, critically, and ethically grounded, and relevant to the key issues facing young people and youth workers in contemporary Australian society.
