    International onshore students must enrol in the internal offering of this unit. Students must enrol in both WEL92005 and WEL92006 in order to complete the final social work placement Enrolment in this unit in session 1 is restricted and will only be approved in exceptional circumstances.

Unit description

Part 1 of 2 units comprising the second social work field placement. Engages students in 600 hours (across WEL92005 and WEL92006) of supervised social work practice, in a different human service organisation to which they completed the first social work field placement (WEL91006-7). Develops professional skills, knowledge and values in line with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) practice standards for social work. Transfers learning gained from other units in the course to practice in a real organisation. Emphasis is placed on the use of research to inform social work practice and policy change.

  1. Analysing the agency context
  2. Forming professional relationships with clients, colleagues and others
  3. Communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders
  4. Understanding the role of social workers within the organisation
  5. Understanding the range of social work practice within this setting
  6. Making effective use of professional supervision
  7. Identifying the potential for research to inform social work practice and policy change
